Colas Environnement has been involved in research and development (R&D) projects for several years. Thus, in the face of growing environmental challenges, our company is developing innovative solutions aimed at developing new processes while protecting the environment.

In order to achieve its objectives, Colas Environnement mobilizes several strategic resources. For example, we collaborate with research organizations such as BRGM and IPGP, thus benefiting from the best technical expertise. The Innovation Department of the Colas Group also provides support through strategic advice and a network of partners.

Among these projects, for example, we can mention a few:

  • Promisces : A project dedicated to the development of treatments capable of decontaminating PFAS in situ;
  • Permute : A project dedicated to the development of treatments capable of decontaminating PFAS on site;
  • Mic&Mousse : This project uses micro-organisms and mosses in order to optimize the depollution by bioterre of soils contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons.
  • A project in collaboration with IRIDESENCE : The aim is to use an experimental system based on a multispectral LiDAR sensor (Light Imaging Detection and Ranging), capable of measuring hydrocarbon impacts in real time and remotely

Colas Environnement's R&D efforts have led to significant results. The company has filed a patent concerning the improvement of biotertre treatment, using moss to transfer nutrients. This innovation optimizes treatment processes and promotes more efficient management of resources, in particular by significantly reducing water consumption. Colas Environnement has also filed EspresSoil, on the use of coffee grounds as a fertilizer substitute in biofields, an initiative that is part of a circular economy logic, transforming waste into a resource.

R&D challenges include the careful selection of projects and the transfer of technology to local establishments for effective implementation. The Depollution Expertise Laboratory (LED), near Lyon, plays a crucial role in these processes.

In the future, Colas Environnement plans to continue its R&D efforts with several promising projects: implementation of processes or the filing of associated patents, for the mobilization, concentration and destruction of PFAS. These initiatives aim to respond to critical environmental challenges while consolidating the company's position as a leader in the field of sustainability and innovation.
